   The car of a series - 81-714/717 >>>

Car model 81-717 is a head-car with a driver's cab. Car model 81-714 is an intermediate car without driver's cab. Both models 81-717 and 81-714 are motor-cars and every axle of the cars is a leading axle.
Both car models are designed for operation in multiple. Up to eight cars per train are admissible. Cars model 81-717 are placed at both ends of the train to permit the shuttle operation of the train.
The carbody is of all-welded self-supporting skin stressed type and is manufactured of low-carbon steel. The outside skin of the carbody is made of corrugated stell sheets ensuring the increased rigidity of the construction.
The cars are equipped with two ventilation systems: natural in-and-out air flow and forced mechanical ventilation.
The cars are equipped with d.c. electric drive and the system of smooth pulse-width modulation of current in the excitation windings of the traction motors. The drive system is designed for operation in the traction mode as well as in the elec-trodynamic rheostatic braking mode, reducing the train speed from 90 km/h down to 8 km /h.
The two-axle bogies of the cars have frame suspended traction motors and axle suspended traction gears. The bogie frame is H-shaped monoblock welded construction with two-step suspension. For primary suspension a set of spiral coiled springs is used. Secondary suspension is of cradle type and also includes spiral coiled springs. Hydraulic shock absorbers are used in the secondary suspension system as dampers of vertical and lateral vibrations.
