    The Railbus RA-1-170 is designed for the passenger traffic on not electrified sections of railways and can be used for a urban, suburban and interregional traffic.
The Railbus is a self-propelled vehicle equipped with two driving cabs. A power equipment, auxiliary systems, and a traction drive are placed underneath a vehicle floor between bogies.The diesel engine meets to the EURO II standards.

A passenger saloon and a driver cab are equipped with:

- heating system;
- forced ventilation;
- double-sheet window glass-blocks;
- reliable thermoinsulation;
- automatic locomotive signalling;
- "sleeping-man control" device;
- monitoring & diagnostic control system;
- device disabling the control system while the driver is coming from one cab to another;
- remote-controlled doors;
- an extensible step for embarkation and debarkation with a low platform or without a platform.
